Money

When Most People think of money they think of the green paper or the different coins you can use when you buy stuff. But the definition is: sometimes generally accepted as a medium of exchange. Money is something you spend; you spend it by buying something you like or need.
There are a variety of ways people spend money but how do teenagers in high school spend theirs? They could buy a car or if they already have one they can buy gas. Transportation is very important especially being a teenager; you need to get to practice if you’re in sports. You may need to run errands for your parents too. There are a lot of ways to spend your money on a car, it needs gas to run. Being a teenager you can eat lots because you’re growing so you may find you’re spending a lot of money at the grocery store or buying a lot of food at a fast food place like McDonalds. (According to www.rwjt.org/newsroom). It is not easy for teens to consume a health diet out side of school.
Most kids live in neighbor hoods where fast food and convenience stores out-number supermarkets.
Parents need to teach their kids to budget because if they wanted to buy clothes then they need to know how much their going to spend or need to save. They need to try and get the most for what they have. (According to www.usaa.com/inet) 86% of teens say patents are more helpful then other sources about teaching about money. Another 50% say their parents discuss spending and saving “all the time or “fairly often”. The parents said they discussed finances often.
Money wasn’t always around, people usually used bullets, tobacco and animal skins before we all had the paper money. In the beginning, people bartered. Barter is the exchange of a good or service for another good or service, a bag of rice for a bag of beans. However, what if you couldn't agree what something was worth in exchange or you didn't want what the other person had. To solve those problems humans developed what is called commodity money. Coin money was introduced around 5000 B.C. and paper money came around A.D. 960. (According to http://inventors.about.com/od/mstartinventions/a/money.htm)
Money use to be thought of a good thing to have, but all that has changed to day. Banks or nobody for that matter has money, the stock markets are down and the banks and companies are bankrupt. Companies are lying off people of their job because of the economy. The car industries are one on the big companies wanting bail out from the government. It doesn’t make since to lay people off if they are the ones who make the government money and have to loans to pay off. It is also the banks fault for giving out loans and not checking to closely to the people and if they were able to pay it back.
Money in my life is just an object that gets me what I want or need. I have bills to pay and things I see that I like so I buy them. I haven’t lost my job yet and it’s a good thing too because I have a high insurance to pay. I’m not old enough to invest in stocks so I haven’t lost any money there. Money in my life is just money and I don’t need to worry about trying to get out of debt because I couldn’t pay a loan or lost a lot of money in stocks. I buy the usual for a teenager in high school clothes, food when I’m hungry I can either eat fast food or supermarket food. Some times if I am in a hurry I run threw McDonalds and if I’m not I go to the supermarket and pick something out that is healthier. I also have a car so from time to time I do have to buy gas so I can go places, I find my self-buying a lot of gas and it isn’t cheap either.
People use money in their every day lives so it is a necessity to live in the world today. Every thing to day cost money no matter what it is. So you have to think how are your teenagers spending their money in high school?

  1. Brandon: You MUST proofread you final drafts before you post them... ALOUD!! You are missing simple things: capitalization mistakes, misuse of words, punctuation errors, and problems with sentence structure. Beyond that, is is a pretty good descriptive essay, but you were writing a definition essay. A definition essay's focus is looking outside of the box. Being creative with your words and descriptions. Your grade according to the rubric is:
Writing is generally focused on the task; contains some support that appeals to the audience
Organizational pattern is evident; may lack a logical progression of ideas
Provides some support; does not elaborate all ideas
Uses overly simple sentence structures; shows some mechanical errors
    Format is good

    Total Points: 73/100
    Bib 30/30

  2. Your essay was pretty good. Always remember to read your essay outloud to yourself so you can find your mistakes. I like how your picked a topic that is more important now than before, especially with the economy now. Next time you write an essay just remember to re-read your essay to yourself.
